Introducing the HR Productization framework
An article published in collaboration with Wowledge.
After a few months of collaboration, I am very excited to announce the publication of a piece on HR Productization that I have been working on with the fine folks at Wowledge. 🎉
They have been extremely patient in guiding me through the process of publishing content for their platform, as we explored different formats for the piece (should it be a guidebook, a workbook, a program...?), and as I explained more in detail these ideas, which were perfectly clear in MY mind, but I needed to express them in a way that resonated well with SOMEONE ELSE's mind.
The whole process helped me put on paper (electronic paper, that is) a lot of the ideas that I had been kicking around for a long time, some of which I had shared with some colleagues to gather insight (thank you, Marie Krebs and Matt Bradburn, among many others for your generosity).
I also wanted to call out Jessica Zwaan and Matt since their wonderful "Built For People - PeopleOps as a Product" masterclass in Maven helped me finish articulating some concepts I had been working on for months (some of them even for years). Without their clarity and guidance, I am not sure I would have ever finished this piece.
Jessie, in particular, inspired me with her book "Built For People" because when I started to dream of the ProductizeHR concept a few years ago, I thought I was alone in thinking of the parallels between Product Management and HR practices. But reading her book and having some conversations at some Product Management conferences made me think that I was not alone and, perhaps, all of us were up to something valuable, and useful.
It is probably the longest piece I have written on the topic, and those who have been speaking with me about these things over the past few years will hear echoes of our conversations.
Check it out, as I explore the 9 principles for HR Productization:
1. Align HR with the business
2. Delight your employees
3. Deliver faster, deliver oftenÂ
4. Make important decisions more confidently with data
5. Grow your practice and your organization with scalable and modular components
6. Augment yourself with the right technology stack
7. Spread the word
8. Get your team on board with change management
9. Keep it fresh through continuous innovation and experimentation
